The residence of Louis XIV's superintendent of finances, Nicolas Fouquet, it aroused the king's jealousy and inspired him to build the château of Versailles. 
This château is a masterpiece created by three exceptionally talented artists: Le Vau, Le Brun and Le Nôtre. When the weather is fine, Vaux le Vicomte also welcomes you to magical evenings: the gardens and the château are lit up by more than 2,000 candles.

"House of the centuries, true dwelling of kings", classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO, has witnessed more than 700 years of French history. You will greatly admire this sumptuous château, with its historically accurate decor and furniture.

artist's villages: Barbizon

Rue de Barbizon

You will love this charming village, the promised land for landscape artists and colourists such as Corot, Millet or Rousseau : creators of the Barbizon School, and precursors of the Impressionist movement. 

Places to visit: the Auberge Ganne: the Museum of the Barbizon School, which brings together all the painters, the dwelling studios of Rousseau and Millet.

artist's villages: Moret sur Loing

This superb medieval town, with its picturesque 12th-century streets, attracted and inspired numerous painters, such as Moret's emblematic figure: the Impressionist Sisley. 
Sisley painted many canvases inspired by the beautiful landscapes of this former fortified town. 
Don't miss: the magnificent sound and light show, "Sisley, a life", with more than 600 performers who take Moret sur Loing back into the Impressionist period throughout the summer.

medieval towns: Provins

Provins

Medieval walled town, UNESCO World Heritage site.
Protected by impressive walls, Provins was formerly the Counts of Champagne's capital, where fairs were held. The town welcomes you on a journey into the Middle Ages. 

Disneyland Resort Paris recommends: 
The Journey to the Middle Ages excursion, with driver/courier, which departs from the Resort between April and November. 
To see or do: 
shows of falconry or chivalry to revisit Medieval legends; a visit of the famous Tour César or the Tithe Barn (Grange aux Dîmes) to immerse you in the atmosphere of Champagne's old regional fairs.

Meaux and its Episcopal "City"

Explore this town, rich in art and history, with its imposing cathedral; its Episcopal "city", a masterpiece of Gothic art and one of the few that still exist in France; its museum, the former Bishop's palace, and the Bossuet Garden, designed by the celebrated landscape painter Le Nôtre.

Around one hundred big cats have decided to take up residence at the heart of Seine et Marne: Kruger lions, white tigers, Sri Lanka leopards and Amur leopards, sand cats and many others besides, you can admire them all in complete safety. 
From Europe to Asia via Africa and America, you can enjoy any one of 4 different trails around the park, to complete a feline world tour. These species, most of which are threatened with extinction, have found a favourable habitat in our region and living conditions that are conducive to their well-being and reproduction.
